What are the differences in these papers?

Hi

I was wondering what the difference is between ‘Inkston 0809 Plus Xuan Paper’ and the ‘Inkston 0809 Xuan Paper’? I’ve noticed that there are a couple of papers with the same name difference but what makes it different? The percentage of tree used to make the paper?

My other question: what makes Song and Wenzhou paper so significant? The color, ingredients, absorption, … ?

Thanks in advance

Reply To: Li Shu Brushes?

Thanks a lot for your post! 🙂 All our brushes are made with similar high grade wool as the one you have received. 🙂 If you need similar shape/ design, we would recommend https://www.inkston.com/shop/brushes/wool-brush/red-star-pro-jing-zhua-yang-hao-wool-brush-m/

However, I am not sure if this might be too big for you?

Thanks a lot again! 😉

How to use “Manual of the Mustard Seed Garden”

Hello,

If you wonder how to paint the Chinese way, you’ll probably encounter the name “Manual of the Mustard Seed Garden” which is like THE guide to help you paint in Chinese style.
Only when looking into the copy its mostly drawing, contouring the objects than really paint (like painting a flower but with colour and full pressure of your brush).  How do you analyse/read this manual to have a productive result?

Do any of you used it already and want to share some experiences? Thank you

Buren bij Kunstenaars (Belgian event) – Chinese calligraphy Bruges

This is a Belgian event happening in the weekend of 18 untill 19 Octobre. Not only Asian art but any kind of art you can find in different places all around Flanders. From professional art ateliers to people making artisanal crafts in their home ‘atelier’.

Reason I post this is because as an open atelier in Bruges we open our doors as well for Chinese calligraphy to see and do yourself. Be sure to take a look and I will welcome you and explain what our students have been up to. Have a look at our Facebook page as well where we post every week what we have been writing or discussing. In the future there will be more informational evenings around calligraphy so if you’re interested, be sure to give it a like and/or follow to keep updated!

If you want more information you can ask anytime ! Happy to help 🙂

Dear Mr. Josh Chu,

This is Yan from Inkston Customer Helper. I am extremely sorry for this issue! I missed your email and I have just replied your email now; please kindly check your email box. Yes, this piece is handmade in Jingdezhen but the designer has confirmed me that he decided to stop making this piece. We have made a proposal to you in the email which I have just sent out. And I am very sorry for not sending the exact product which you have ordered. Please kindly let me know by replying my email if you want to have a replacement.

Last but not the least, we apologise for missing your email and we really appreciate your trust and patience with us!

sincerely and best regards,

Yan

Missing Item/s

Dear Inkston,

I placed an order on the 20 Aug for 6 items. The package arrived on the 28th August. One item was not exactly what I ordered but I have overlooked this.

The issue I am writing about today is that five items came except the ‘Ceramic Water Resevoir for Rinsing Brushes’ priced at £40.37

I have written twice already in private requesting information on this matter, once on the 28th August immediately after I noticed the item was missing, and again on the 2nd September.

I suspect that given the item is handmade in Jingdezhen there may be a neccessary delay, whereas the stock items can be shipped immediately, but I have not heard back from Inkston to confirm whether this is true or not. I am disappointed in that I have received no response to my previous correspondence in private given a reasonable period of time. I hope that by writing on this public forum, I will finally get a response from Inkston.

Yours sincerely,

Josh Chu

Li Shu Brushes?

I bought an Inkston 0100Wl 小鶴颈 XiaoHeJing “Small Crane Neck”  羊毫 Yang Hao Wool brush some time ago and use it for Li style calligraphy. It is excellent and works really well especially with the “silkworm head and goose tail” type of strokes.

The brush is listed as a medium size. Is there another brush you could recommend that is larger but with same characteristics?

Thanks! #LiCalligraphy;Brushes
