There seem to be a lot of unspoken rules of using Chinese brushes for painting and calligraphy. We once discussed a bit brush size for calligraphy. This time, we would like to discuss how to choose proper brush size for painting. In China, a common saying is that ‘use big brush for small scale painting so that the small painting will be better presented; and use small brush for big painting so that the large size would contains sophisticated details.’
Then, in your past experience, what do you think?
