Reason behind owning a lot of seals

Hello, I was wondering why calligraphers and/or painters have a lot of seals. You would think that a seal is like the artist signing its work but if an artist has so many seals, how can an outstander know who the author is? Western artists normally put their signature on their work and its always the same one so you can recognize who’s work it is.

I know that every seal has another meaning and the reason why using other seals on your works is probably because it’s more fitting to the work itself. Just don’t know if this is a correct way of thinking. So I would like to know your thoughts or the reason behind owning/making many seals?

It is normal for the painting to wrinkle. This is why you need to mount your painting. You do not need to frame it finely with silk but you need to mount it with natural glue. Once it is mounted, the painting is flat automatically. Some people use silicon and iron, we do not recommend this because it doesn’t last long and it will harm the painting later. I drew a piggy, sitting in the mud next to some young trees.

I only used black ink and water to get some difference in shades. For the mud it really came out nice I think. I washed the brush but not thoroughly and then dipped the tip a bit back into the sumi-ink. Then used the side of my brush with some quick movements. For the little leaves I twisted my smallest brush (same one using for drawing the tree) after cleaning it a bit and did some quick dips on the paper.  Used the same brush full with ink and twisted to paint the grass. I used 3 different brushes. #ChinesePaintingOfPig

I guess traditionally pigs and peonies don’t really go together in chinese painting? My LaoZhi certainly thought it was weird! But in my mind since I think in English, it rhymed and sounded good together! ;0) So I painted this because peonies are my favourite flowers to paint and pigs are the theme. I wanted to depict a family with the children trusting and following their parent, looking into the future of 2019, wherever the road takes them but towards happiness and prosperity.  Kind regards, Connie Lam.
