This very fine inkstick is handmade by the Old Hu Kai Wen ink craftsmen in 1970s. It is very beautifully crafted. The method used to make this ink is called ´1000 beats´which literally means the raw materials to make this ink was beat repeatedly for thousands of times. This method is used specially to make the finest materials so that when writing, the ink is more delicate and smooth. The making method is marked clearly on the side of this inkstick and it is stamped by Old Hu Kai Wen workshop.
For professional handmade inksticks, the longer the ink is preserved, the better the quality becomes. This ink has been preserved at Old Hu Kai Wen´s special ink box for 40 years till recently inkston acquired it. Compared to new inksticks, the old inksticks has lower density and the surface shows a natural grey colour. However, this ink is so nice that it does not have bad cracks, which is not usual for handmade natural inksticks.
This is perfect ink for both ink collectors and professional artists. The longer you keep it, the more valuable it will become.
