I recommend you Duke Asian fountain pen. I got this today and was very pleasantly surprised by the quality, fit, and finish given the pen’s price. The engraving on the cap and the details are fantastic. It’s absolutely beautiful! I loaded it up with Sailor black pigment ink and it writes very well. It’s so easy to vary the width of your lines because of the fude nib. Writing looks very nice and formal. #CalligraphyInkstick

mounting Hobotai silk to paper
Does anyone have experience with mounting Hobotai silk to paper? I will be mounting several monotype prints on silk to paper for an artist. The monotype printing is done with acrylic and soy-based inks (non-water soluble) and the application is thick- completely absorbed through the silk from the front to the back. My instinct would be to use starch paste but my concern is that the paste will not stick to the non-absorbent ink areas. I have used Rhoplex-N580 adhesive successfully mounting thin papers to heavier sheets (chine collé). But I worry that the silk may be too sheer, allowing the Rhoplex to bleed through to the front surface. Any suggestions would be helpful.
My aim is to get the silk mounted flat and smoothly to a western printmaking paper such as Rives BFK for stability and display purposes.

Hello, greetings from the UK. I inherited this fan and have been trying to learn more about the fan, the signature, age and full translation of the kanji. I believe the fan is Chinese and likely to be over 50 years old. A Japanese friend thought it includes 雪→snow 雨→rain 江→mouth of river 澪→waterways n the calligraphy, but I would love to know more. Kindest regards

looking for a very dark black pine soot inkstick
Hi all , I’m looking for a VERY DARK black pine soot or matte finish inkstick, can anyone recommend one ?
I have previously used the Ancient Recipe Yellow Mountain pine soot inkstick and found that it had a nice luster but was not quite dark enough for my liking.
Thanks
Sam

How many inkstones for painting?
This is probably a silly question, but how many inkstones to I need for painting? If I just have one, if I want to use a different colour I have to clean the inkstones and brushes. If again I want to use a new colour I have to wash again. Do you use more than one when you paint a coloured painting to stop all this washing?

seal carving
I am planning on practicing carving Chinese words on seals. Does anyone else do this? Am I right in thinking I have to mirror the Chinese word so it comes out the right way round when stamped on paper?
