Reply To: Making Colours for Chinese painting

Yes, there are some common practices to mix colours. I made some examples for your reference. Later, inkston will write some articles on this subject.

The last colour of each colour row is the result of mixing the colours on left hand of it. Some colours are mixed with two colours, some are three, and others are four or even five.

Making Colours for Chinese painting

Hello, do you have any formulas to mix Chinese colour paints? Is there any popular ways in China to make new colours by mixing those common colours? For example, mix light yellow and blue, we can get green.

Reply To: looking for pre mounted Xuan paper with design on the sides

Hi Raz, yes, I think I sort of know what you want now. Do you have any particular dimension you need?

In fact, you know you can also make it yourself. 🙂 This would be more economic and even more suitable for your needs. If you know how to mount paintings, personally I would recommend you to do it yourself. 🙂 You need to get mounting papers, mounting silk, mounting glue, and tapes. How do you think?

古盏油烟 Lux Ancient Recipe Oil Soot Inkstick

http://ift.tt/2j7e5vT
This is the most valuable handmade oil soot inkstick made by the famous Old Hu Kai Wen. It was made strictly according to ancient oil soot inkstick recipe which includes valuable herbs, gold foil, and pearls.
The ink produces a very vivid deep black. The black is so sophisticated that it shows a very thick smooth finish. It contains the best natural resin which further helps keep the brush supple.
This ink also has a very fine aroma.
All these features make this inkstick the 'king' of handmade Chinese inksticks.

And, learning landscape painting by observing and copying famous landscape paintings is also a very good way to learn these artists’ special techniques.

For example, Tang Dai’s landscape paintings.

Dear Raz,

This is Yan. Thanks for your question! I think you are talking about the mounted roll, right? One side is mounted with silk while the other side is xuan paper. If it is this type, then we have different sizes available. Do you have any more specific requirements? Then I can send you some photos. 🙂 #MountedRoll #XuanPaperRoll
